Question: Why do I have to rev my engine in order for my car to go into gear?

After starting my car and putting it into reverse or drive, I have to keep my foot on the gas and rev the engine in order for it to go into gear. What could the problem be?

If there's a stalling problem, you may have a low idle issue. If the problem is just with it shifting into gear, then the problem is the transmission. Check the fluid level and condition. Transmission services are recommended every 30k, you may want to have that done, as it will give some information on the condition of the transmission. You may have a plugged filter or problem with the valve body.
