Question: Why does my 2002 Grand Prix continues to overheat?

In August, I had my radiator and water pump fixed because my car was overheating. Now, I have another problem, my TEMP light will come on and stay lit BUT my car is NOT overheating. As a result, my engine goes into protection mode. Then I have to turn my car off and wait to drive it. I took my car to the mechanic and he couldn't find anything wrong. What could be causing the TEMP light and engine to be going into protection mode? Or is there something else that can cause my car to "overheat?"

Also, I my coolant levels are normal.

Your car is overheating. If the light is on and the computer puts it into protection mode you are way to hot. Start the car and run it to see if the cooling fans come on. If they don't you need to fix them. It could be a relay or the fan motors. If you keep running it that hot you are going to blow the head gaskets. And you mite have already done that. If the fans come on you need to have a shop check the head gaskets for leaks. Also have the thermostat checked. The thermostat could be stuck closed are part way opened.
