Question: Why does my car keep shutting down after 15 to 20 minutes?

2.2L DOHC engine. I was told it from a mechanic that it was the Main Relay. Replaced it and no change. Then was told it may be the ignition switch and changed it out. No change in outcome. After running 15 to 20 minutes it dies. I was told that it may be the fuel pump now, that after the fuel has heated up it can cause the car to shutdown. I don't know if this is the case or if it has anything to do with the ignition. It completely shuts down like someone turned the key off.

I would suspect the crank position sensor is failing when it heats up. It could also be your ignition module or fuel pump are failing when they get hot, but it needs some testing. You first have to figure out if its a no fuel or no spark issue. That will help a lot in figuring out what the issue is.

BTW crank position sensors supply RPM to the computer and with out that signal the car will shut down. Failure when hot is very common.

Car Brakes: How Do You Know When to Change Them?

By Zach Bowman For those who suffer a daily commute through heavy traffic, your vehicle's braking system can bring thousands of pounds of metal, plastic and empty Starbucks cups to a stop hundreds of times before you get to work. It goes without saying that these pieces wear out, but they do so slowly, meaning you may not notice they need attention until ...
