Question: Why does my truck refuse to idle?

79, Ford F-150..300 6 cylinder. Ugly, dependable old truck. it dies at EVERY stop sign. You must go to neutral and rev it or your done. I've changed Air Filter, Plugs, cleaned carb, all those sorta things....still no luck. It will idle FINE for like the first block or two...then die. Stuck choke? Float? I am NOT skilled enough to play with carb adjustments expensive of a fix is this gonna be? Any idea? ANY help pleeeze. Thank you.
