Question: Why does our Acura MDX when turning the steering left or right is making a humming noise

When making left or right turns our Acura MDX is making humming noise. This increases as you turn the steering more.
It started happening this winter. It goes away at times and then comes back again.
This never happened until now. The only major repair that we had done recently was to change the timing belt and the pumps.
Can anyone help us understand why this is happening.

That sounds like air in the power steering system. Check the power steering fluid level and condition. If you can see metallic specks, have the fluid flushed and replaced. If the level is low, add fluid and check for leaks. You can also remove the serpentine belt and check the bearing of the power steering pump for wear.
