Question: Why is gas spewing from the carb?

I rebuilt the carb on my '76 ford f100 302. It's a motocraft, 2 barrel. Now it spews gas from the two tall cylinders on the bowl cover (right in front of the butterfly, above the float). Any suggestions?

My first guess is the float valve is stuck closed, causing the bowl to overflow. Take the top off the bowl and make sure the needle and seat are able to open and close without sticking.
