Question: why is my 97 sentra having problems both starting and staying on?
My car had problems starting at first, it would turn and rumble like it was getting some gas but wouldnt fully start but somewhat started. I tryed starting it many times for 2 days and when it would try starting I would pump the gas pedal in to give it more gas repeatedly ( I had resolved the car not starting 2 times before months ago by doing this and the car was perfectly fine after) After doing this alot now i find that there is gas in the oil or atleast it smells like it on the dipstick and the oil level was higher. Well today after 3 days of the car not running It started i let it idel for about 5 minuts and then drove it just a little but when i tryed driving it about a mile to get the oil changed and it died like it was out of gas. I let it sit for about 4 hours it started right back up and i drove it home perfectly from there, I let it idle for about ten minuts and i noticed some white or grey smoke comeing from the exhaust not alot but a decent amount that would look like a cars exhaust running on a very cold day but just a little more. Then i noticed the car to sound weak as if it were dieing out of gas I put the car in drive and gave it a little bit of gas and it died like it was out of gas. I tried to start the car again but its doing the same thing as it first did by turning and not seeming like its getting enough gas to start and im guessing i have to wait for awhile for it to start again. What could be wrong with it? Is there anything I can do ?
