Question: why is my car whining?

my 2002 pontiac montana started whining a few days ago. the whining turns into a sort of groan when the steering wheel is turned. what's wrong?

You have power steering leak. Go buy some power steering fluid. Add it to the power steering. than take it to a shop to have them inspect what is leaking.
