Question: why is my speedometer erratic

The original was bad and had the dealer replace the entire cluster for $1,000. 8 months later the speedometer started acting eratic after the car warms up. usually jumps after 50mph and pegs the speedometer.

Speedo problems are either the VSS (vehicle speed sensor), the speedo head or the wiring/connections in between. Start by testing the signal coming out of the VSS.
