Question: why it is taking at least 40 cranks on the ignition to start

Our sport trac has always started just fine,but it seems that since the weather has gotten cold,sometimes now it is taking 30 or 40 cranks on the ignition to start.We changed the fuel filter,but this didn't help.

I would have the fuel pump checked. Also The ignition key could be the problem also. You could have the key checked by the dealer.
