Question: Why my 2009 Dodge Charger won't start?

I have a 2009 dodge charger SXT. I went out to start my car last night and when i put the key in the ignition a red vehicle security light came on under my gas gauge. My radio did not come on and no other light lit up in the dash board. My interior lights come on as well as my outside lights but my car will not start. i am able to lock door and unlock door with my key control but my car will not start. Can you please help me I am really trying to get some help with this and hoping to not have to make a costly trip to the dodge dealership
