Question: Why won't my car start?

My car starts some days and not other days. The engine turns over fine it just won't go. Sometimes it will start then be sluggish and shut off again.
I've had my fuel pump changed and the fuel filter. I'm not sure if it's electrical or bad fuel pressure or what else could be making it not want to start

I can't promise it will fix it, but I'd probably replace the distributor. It's a common problem on these models as they age.

If you want to verify this could be the problem, check to see if you have spark when it wont start. If you have no spark, you know it could be it.

Sometimes it will start but then the RPMs instantly drop and it shuts off and won't start for a few more times or until waiting for a bit. Is that another symptom of a bad distributor?

Again, it could be... just hard to say for sure. You can check for fuel and spark while cranking when it wont start.
