Question: why wont my powerlift gate not work?

for starters the button up front near the drivers mirror is on.
I hit the button on the door and you hear the latch work so you can open the door...but no lifting happening then two seconds later it re-latches. I try my key fob and the lights on the truck work as they should with the same results. I even tried the button up front just for kicks obviously nothing. Solenoid???
