Question: why wont my van stay running?

I have a 2001 dodge grand caravan sport with a 3.3l V6. When i went to have emissions done, it came up with evap leak. I checked all hoses and found a hole in the line that feeds into the purge solenoid. I replaced the hose. When i started the vehicle it was pouring white smoke from the exhaust. Now it starts, but shuts off immeadiately. When i start it and hold the accelorator the engine surge's. I only replaced one hose to complete the evap system. What do i do?

The evap system shouldn't effect the engine that dramatically. It is more likely that a hose got knocked off, or something got unplugged, while you were working on it. A good first step would be to look for vacuum leaks:
