Question: why wont the button on my gear shift push in when i try to put car in gear?

when i try to push the button in,, on my gear shift it will not go in,, even after having break on,, its like its stuck

Sounds like the shift interlock cable/solenoid is having a problem releasing the shifter. You'll need a shop to see why it is binding.
