Question: Why would it cost over $200 to fix a handle?

I pulled on my driver door one morning and the handle came off in my hand. Never has this happened before...when I started looking around to buy a handle and to get it fixed...the dealership wanted over $100 for the handle and then between labor the bill was like $200+. I reported this issue to the Nissan place for maybe a recall...there have been other handles to come off besides mine...

There is no TSB/Recall related to this issue.

I've certainly seen this type of failure on a variety of vehicles, you aren't the only person to experience this.

The $200 bill is pretty standard. The parts are expensive new from a dealer, and the labor to replace it was probably over an hour. The door panel has to be removed and the repair itself can be a little tricky on most models.

So it's a unfortunately expensive repair, but I wouldn't say you've been ripped off.

Thanks...I found a handle on Ebay for $50 and put it on myself...however, the wires are a little criss-crossed now because my back driver window locks doors and the passenger window rolls up upon shutoff of vehicle...it's pretty funny...like a fun-house/money pit...lol
