Question: won't accelerate

Feels Like>> Vehicle is sluggish>> When I need passing power and press the accelerator to the floor>> Yes>> The car will not allow me to pick up speed and it starts to putt as if to cut off and the check engine light, which stays on normally, begins to flash

If you have access to a scan tool,, you'll need to see if any codes are present. A code will give you a direction to follow to diagnose this problem. It might be difficult on a 1995 vehicle though. If it was newer, the flashing check engine light mean major misfire detected (and it may on your vehicle as some 1995s used the newer OBDII before it was required in 1996).

The light shouldn't be on in general, as that indicates a fault. You need to start with diagnosis of the light and go from there.

Also if it hasn't been tuned up in a long time, that is also a good thing to do.
