Question: worried about my transmission

I have a 2000 Ford focus and lately it seems to be misbehaving. Sometimes while I'm driving, I can feel a change. It takes more force on the brake pedal to slow down or stop, and it accelerates without prompting from me. The only way to "unstick" it is to put the vehicle into park. Then it revs wildly for a few seconds before returning to normal.

Sounds more like an issue with the throttle / throttle body. It might be sticking.

Check that, and check the engine and transmission computers for fault codes.
