Question: would i need to replace the battery our the alternator?

I was driving my car and the lights started to go dim and the all the electronics stoped working and then the car turned off. I am not Shurr if it is the battery that's needs to be replaced or the alternator.

Sounds like the alternator/charging system. But it is a good idea to test the battery as a defective battery can cause the alternator to fail.
