Question: does replacing water pump require timing belt change?

You have a timing chain, not a timing belt. The timing chain should last 150,000 miles or more. If you did have a timing belt, it would be wise to change the water pump and timing belt at the same time to save a lot of money on labor charges. Belt replacement varies from manufacturers. 60,000 to 90,000 miles for most engines for replacement of the timing belt, if you have one. If the belt breaks, on some engines, major engine damage will happen that will cost thousands of dollars to fix it.
